Technical Writing Construction Marketing |
| NBAT has a long-established reputation for excellence in technical authorship and editing. We have a successful
track record of influential and award winning technical literature for construction product manufacturers and
distributors that goes back over twenty years. |
| NBAT can create technical copy in many and flexible ways. We can work to a tight brief from the client,
or we can generate content and copy from our own researches. |
| Studies by Barbour Index have shown (not surprisingly) that clarity of communication is a vital influence on
architects’ specifying decisions. NBAT’s team of copywriters are specialists in clear communication – and as
architects themselves it is a case of essential information from an informed source. |
| In addition to communication for construction product manufacturers, NBAT has written and edited many key
publications for Government Departments, Building Research Agencies, Trade Associations and Professional
Institutions. |
| A strong capability in technical editing and authorship centres on our architect technical writers, who work
closely within integrated teams consisting also of graphic designers, illustrators and IT specialists. |
| Building Regulations Approved Documents |
| NBAT co-ordinated the draft documents and prepared the overall graphic design, illustrations
and artwork. Our work also included editing the draft text, preparation of illustrations and
drafting the technical appendices for Approved Document L Conservation of fuel and power. |
| National House Building Council |
| NBAT drafted revisions to the NHBC Standards for Housebuilders, including reorganising and incorporating
existing NHBC recommendations, contributing original guidance material, preparing illustrations and
devising a new presentation format. |
| British Standards Institution |
| NBAT has worked with BSI on drafting standards for many years. Most recently we have worked on a revision
and amalgamation of BS 5619: Design of housing for the convenience of disabled people and BS 5810: Access
for the disabled to buildings. |
| Building Research Establishment |
| NBAT prepared the text and illustrations for the influential BRE report Thermal insulation: avoiding
risks which provides a fully illustrated good practice guide on the use of higher levels of thermal
insulation. It covers recommendations for the correct installation of insulation and services, avoiding
thermal bridges and interstitial condensation, and many other practical buildability aspects. |
